Chili and avocados

(from the jojos archive)

PICT0072.1106880483Today Aiden had eight of his closest friends over to play. Well okay, the truth is that is all of his friends, at least all of his friends that are under one. Anyway, I think our living room is too small for that many infants. We had fun though. The moms polished off a pot of chili, so all the babies are having chili milk about now! They are getting to the age where they want to grab each other's toys. Sharing is a long way off. They can all sit up pretty well (Except for the two new girls, Ruby and Vaughn who are only 6 weeks old.) and the older ones are starting to crawl. The age span of the boys is only 6 weeks and Aiden is on the young end of that. Which means that there is possibility of crawling in our house IN 6 WEEKS! We had to pick up a few girls for our group since Violet has had to go to daycare on weekdays (despite Abby's valiant efforts to stay home longer).
Today Aiden also had some avocado. This morning Jon hollered out, "this is the end of the baby poops!!" as he was changing Aiden. I took this to mean he had just had such a big poop that he was never going to need to poop again. What Jon really meant was that the last 3 days of rice cereal and bananas had made there way through and these were no longer baby poops but little boy poops. We are considering quitting the use of cloth diapers! His food repertoire now consists of rice cereal, oatmeal cereal, banana, prunes, apples (didn't treat him so well though), and now avocado. Next will come sweet potato and peas. Then we can hopefully start with some finger foods. That's when the real fun starts!

cute little boots

(from the jojos archive)

yellowboots.1105734544Aiden got these cute little boots from his friend Liam. I don't really put shoes on him because he's not walking yet but I thought they were cute.

Sleep update

(from the jojos archive)

Aiden is now successfully sleeping in his crib in the nursery at night and for his naps. We have gotten him comfortable napping without being swaddled at all and he sleeps with one arm out at night. That arm is wrapped around a stuffed dog he got for Christmas from his grandparents. Now we need to work on the pacifier addiction because he still ends up crying for us to put it back in his mouth a few times a night.
Lately he has been grabbing anything he can. I can't take a drink of anything while I'm holding him anymore because he'll grab it and spill it all over. He likes to pull hair and chew fingers. Today he grabbed my cheeks in both hands and shoved my nose into his mouth!

good thoughts for Aiden's Grand-Dadgle

(from the jojos archive)

post11.1105667258Please think good thoughts for Aiden's Grand-Dadgle (my father) who is going to have a very long surgery tomorrow and a long recovery. He fell off his roof while clearing off snow and has broken his pelvis and his back.

Everything tastes so good!

(from the jojos archive)

PICT0035.1105115432It's been in the 70's here for the last few days, so we spread a blanket out in the yard and took some pictures of Aiden rolling around on our new blanket. It's got a waterproof layer so we don't get wet when we sit in the grass. Most of the shots he looks pretty concerned about something but really I think it was just the sun.
He shoves anything in his mouth that he can get his hands on. I believe that won't change anytime soon. At least for now he's not mobile so he can't reach much unless we give it to him. Jon gives him crawling lessons in the morning. Aiden is sitting up better everyday and soon will be leaning forward into crawling position. I have been cleaning the baseboards and floors in preparation for his mobility. I think we need to start brushing the dog or the baby might get eaten up by a dog-hair-dust-bunny in between sweepings.
